L.A. Minerals or Physician's formula

I entered a giveaway sometime ago for L.A. Minerals. I didn't win but I have updates from them on my twitter. As I mentioned before, I'm in the search for powder for my face. My face is oily and prone to breakout. This is why I'm leaning towards mineral makeup. I'm interested in L.A. Minerals because they're currently doing a special offer where you can get buy 10 samples ($2 each) and get 5 of them for free (code: 5free). I like that the samples are affordable. Shipping is $6.99. They have a good explanation of what type of skin tone the shade would best match. I really need to get over this fear of asking a makeup artist to help me out. So getting samples would be the ideal way to figure out my skin tone! I can't afford to buy those high end brands that makeup artists try to sell me. I just want something affordable on a poor student's budget.

A drug store brand I'm also debating about is Physician's Formula. The only problem is I can't guess which shade is mine. For $19.99, I can't really afford to guess and have it turn out that it's the wrong shade. But if I look at it, if I buy those samples from L.A. Minerals, then buy the right shade, that's going to add up. But will it be worth it?

Or I could just not use powder...which is what I've been doing for the most part anyway...

So indecisive.

  1. I'm looking for some powder as well... and was hoping to try Hard Candy. I don't know whether or not it's "mineral" though.
